Today is the Day

“One Day, You’ll Wake Up and Be Out of Time”

I heard this phrase on a recent episode of the Nick Bare Podcast with Lucy Davis, and it’s been on repeat in my mind ever since. This simple yet profound reminder isn’t just relevant to my life; I want to pass it on to everyone I aim to inspire through my work at Boulder Athletics and here on this platform.

The Concept of Time: Our Most Finite Resource

Time is fleeting. Each day that we put off taking action, each moment we don’t move toward our goals or dreams is one less chance we have to do so. And this doesn’t just apply to the grand aspirations or far-off visions of who we want to become. It’s the daily choices, the small, seemingly inconsequential moments that determine whether we’re making progress or just treading water.

When I look back, I want to feel confident that I didn’t leave anything on the table. I want to know that I woke up every day, committed to becoming the person I truly wanted to be. I didn’t settle for “good enough” but instead reached for my highest potential.

A Journey of Persistence, Dedication, and Sacrifice

The journey of personal growth is filled with twists and turns, often leading us into the unknown. But in that unknown, I’m convinced, is where we find the person we were meant to become. Reaching our goals—whether in health, fitness, career, or relationships—doesn’t come easily. It takes persistence, dedication, sacrifice, and yes, hard work.

Our best lives, our health, our fitness, our success—these don’t come from comfort or shortcuts. They’re on the other side of consistent effort, of choosing to put in the work even when it’s difficult, especially when it’s difficult. Every step forward is a victory, and every challenge met is a testament to our commitment to becoming the best version of ourselves.

Embracing the Finite Nature of Our Time

We don’t have endless days ahead of us, and this is both the challenge and the beauty of life. Imagine what we could achieve if we lived every day as though time were running out. Imagine the changes we’d make if we stopped waiting and took action today.

This year, I’m bringing this mindset into my 36th year on this earth. I don’t want to leave anything undone, any opportunity unexplored, or any potential unfulfilled. The mantra I’m adopting is simple yet powerful: Today, do it today. Because one day, I won’t have the chance to do it any longer.

Let’s Reach Together

I’m sharing this to encourage you to join me on this journey. We all have our own goals, dreams, and aspirations, and the only guarantee we have is the time we choose to make the most of now. Let’s reach for the stars together, knowing that every small action today leads us closer to our best selves tomorrow.

To everyone ready to commit, to everyone who’s choosing growth over comfort and persistence over ease—let’s make each day count. We may not know exactly where the journey will take us, but one thing’s certain: if we give our all, the destination will be worth it.

Let’s get after it, my friends!
