Bouncing Back: How I Choose to Reset After a Hectic Week
We all encounter those hectic weeks that throw us off our game. I'm just coming out of one myself. It started with a whirlwind travel schedule from Denver to North Carolina, then driving through South Carolina and Georgia, and finally returning home—all within three days. Shortly after, friends visited for the weekend. The result? More social drinking, poorer eating, and less exercising than usual. Now, feeling the consequences, I face a familiar fork in the road.
This is the moment where we all must decide: do we correct our path or let the momentum of our missteps drag us further away from our goals? I'm choosing to reset and return to my usual 90/10 approach to nutrition and fitness, no excuses, only action.
The past week was not ideal. I indulged more and moved less, but dwelling on these choices, or worse, wallowing in guilt, won't help. Instead, it's about acknowledging the slip and moving forward. I’m fortunate not to have any travel or major events lined up for a while, which means I can really focus on maintaining my routine.
Discipline and focus are key to accomplishing our personal goals, especially when unexpected temptations arise. My personal life philosophy is to stay as "dialed" as possible—aiming for 90% of my time to be on point so that I can fully enjoy the other 10%. This balance allows me to say "hell yes" to life's spontaneous opportunities without derailing my long-term objectives.
Life is indeed short, and bad days can compound quickly if we're not careful. That's why it's crucial to stay mission-focused. For me, that means adhering closely to my goals the vast majority of the time, so that when those exceptional moments come, I can embrace them without regret.
Staying true to this philosophy doesn't just help me recover from off weeks; it ensures I'm always moving towards the best version of myself. And maybe, by sharing this, I can inspire you to find your way of bouncing back and staying dialed in too. Because in the end, how we handle our off days can define our on days. Let's make them count.
Keep momentum fam, you got this.
